What CSA2 is. What CSA2 isn't. READ ME!

What Comp.Sys.Apple2 is:

CSA2 is a special interest group dedicated to the Apple II computer. It
is for the discussion of topics and problems related to the Apple II.
CSA2 can provide almost instant and diverse help to hardware as well as
software problems through the combined experience of it's members. CSA2
is a part of a giant research network solely for this purpose.

What Comp.Sys.Apple2 is not:

Your babysitter. I have been reading CSA2 for many years now and have
seen a lot of changes. Not only have I gotten older, but I have seen the
mean age of the users and posters go down as well. I have seen fewer posts
that contain any actual real "meat," and many that contain *purely* slams
against other *users, *computers, and *Apple Management. Everyone who gets
a nose out of joint deserves to be dealt with - but an attack at a level
no better than their own is not only futile, but annoying to the rest of
the network.

What you can do about this:

Hundreds of messages are posted every week to CSA2. They usually take one
of several forms: A question, an answer, informational, or slams. If you
find that your post does not contain more than 90% of one of the first
three before indulging in the fourth, please refrain from posting it. If
you find that your post does not contain any of these four, but instead
contains back scratching, test messages, or some not really controversial
but highly passionate message (Such as "The Apple II sucks."), then you
need to re-evaluate why you feel that you should be posting this message,
and then please refrain from posting it.

I would like to read every message that comes across CSA2, as I am sure
that many other old stand-bys would as well. The sheer amount of garbage
that is posted prevents this. With even a 10% daily reduction in posts,
I would be able to read and respond to 10-15 more articles. (Note how
98% of my messages are replied to with "r" or "m" and not "F".) If you
do indeed value the help that you receive from some of the more
experienced people out in net-world, you would let a lot more slide
before responding. I would appreciate it, and I'm sure that many others
would as well.

(Please note: I am fully aware that I post many "slams." In doing so, I
first address WHO I am talking to, address the foolishness, offer suggestions
to correct this problem, and finish my slam. I DO NOT just comment on
someone's mother, or some foolish bit of nonsense. If you choose to
flame me, please have the decency to do it this way.)
