Well, I'll tell you, but in case someone else doesn't want to know,
they should abort this message now...
As I recall, Somewhere around that level you have to use the 'up counter' chip
you were supposed to pick up to rig a robot's thrusters to count four tunnels
in a ventilation shaft and then turn on to thrust down the fourth or fifth to
get whatever was required to get you out. Later was the 'mine' room that
had invisible mines and couldn't be entered by the user or something. There
is a 'map' room that shows where all the mines are, so you have to remote
control two robots together so that each toggle of the power on/off changes
the direction. You then place the remote at the entrance to the mine room and
'ride' the control robot through the map room. WILD! The last big obstacle
I recall was at the very end, after getting all four robots, you had to set
them up to press four buttons in a certain order (that order given by the
timing pattern of an old Ford Pinto 4 cylinder engine!). Once you figure out
how to place the robots properly, getting the right order isn't too hard.
There are only 24 combinations possible (four factorial) at most, but you
can eliminate most by having some idea how engines typically work. I think
it was 2314, but not sure.. It's going to be done so that the 'engine' is
balanced between front and back pistons firing...
Anyways, I agree that Robot Oddyssey was an AMAZING game and would love to
see a modern version of it, with more features, better graphics, etc.
