Sigh. Umich had one of the nicest indexes for Apple software around - back
before last March. It appears not to have been updated since they moved
to Unix though.
Anyways, as I have mentioned before, I am in search of various software
items which a second grade class could use along with their class. Now
comes the tough part. Someone this evening mentioned that having a
crossword puzzle generator, a word generator, a maze generator, etc. would
be some useful tools for the teachers. I would guess that some fun
math games would be neat. Another part time teacher mentioned games like
Oregon Trail (though that one MIGHT be a bit tough on the kids). Another
person suggested a pgm to help the kids learn to practice clock reading
skills. And I thought that pgms that would use monetary skills (making
change, etc.) or play while practicing counting by 2s, 3s, etc. would
be fun. Or perhaps some games and tools for practicing spelling words
where the teacher could supply word lists and the kids (volenteers, etc.)
could enter the words for things like hang man, etc.
I looked out on the Umich files and didn't see anything that particularly
LOOKED like a Crossword puzzle generator. As for the others, well
having only file names to go by seems like quite a long way to go.
Anyone have ideas on these, or perhaps related ideas?
