Forgive me if this is a stupid question - but why would you ever want to do this? It would add an extra step (copy to Apple II media) to the whole process...

Consider that a user has a dozen or so configurations and that
they are stored on the Apple II hard disk.

It would be very handy to just select a new configuration and run
a program to load it, with no plugging, unplugging, or other computers
around.

The size of the configuration files is reasonable for an Apple II
and the 1MHz processor is quite capable of bit-banging at several
KB per second.
