  Gee, aren't _we_ just being snotty?  There are lots and lots of BBS's
in the world that run at 2400bps.  Most of them, in fact.  High speed
modems are still out of most people's leagues, _especially_ since
2400 baud modems can be had for $80 now.  2400 is here to stay (as much as
I want a super fast modem, not everyone is going to need one, nor
will they be able to afford one).

  And to be quite honest, TelCom uses the firmware and achieves 38400
baud easily.  At 57600 you might as well forget doing anything but 
processing serial interrupts.
