The Epson driver that comes with Apple's System software is fine if you only
print straight text (i.e., from AppleWorks Classic, ProTERM, etc.), however,
if you're printing out items from AppleWorks GS using fonts, or anything using
graphics, using the LQ driver from the Harmonie package will allow you a
*much* higher resolution. I believe that the standard Epson driver uses a
60x60 dpi resolution to work with any Epson. The Harmonie Epson LQ driver
will allow one to choose anywhere from 60x60 dpi (low resolution, high speed),
or up to 360x360 dpi (lower speed, but much higher resolution). When you
consider that your average Laserprinter only prints at 300x300 dpi, you get an
idea what an improvement this can give you... :)
It just depends on how you use your printer, and if you want or need the
better resolution...
