.bsq means that the file in binary encoded.  For your GS, get GScii+ (NDA) 
written by Derek Taubert.  If you're using a //e, //c, use BinSCII, if you're
using Unix, use SciiBIN.

Those programs should be available on ccosun.caltech.edu
