Hi All,
First project of Brutal Deluxe during the summer holidays for the
Apple IIgs: mount virtual disk image.
A System 6+ user can now handle disk images on the Finder desktop and
use the contents from within any GS/OS application.
At that time, the following disk images are recognized:
- 140 KB .PO or .DSK or .2MG, only ProDOS disks
- 800 KB .PO or .DSK or .2MG, only ProDOS disks
The features that are included:
- Mount up to 8 images as virtual disks (select File/Open or Extras/
Mount disk image)
- Save all modified virtual disk contents back to the original file
(select Extras/Save disk image)
- Read is always available
- Write is available if the image is unlocked
- Format is available if the image is unlocked
The drawbacks (be positive):
- Switching to a ProDOS 8 application removes the driver from memory
but let the virtual disks in memory !
- Virtual disks are not available from ProDOS 8 (no driver there)
- Switching back to GS/OS does not remount the virtual disks
A first public beta version will be made available at the end of next
week on our website,
Antoine Vignau
