NIB IIe Vulcan?! Haha! You rock!
One thing dawned on me late last night in a odd dream. I tested the
ROM Henry sent to me with the three refurbished 105 mb drives I picked
up for the three cards.
Only the GOLD 2.0 version of the ROM handles the 105 mb drives. If the
last version of the IIe ROM is 1.4, no wonder it won't work with my
drives and the card bombs!
Egads!
I'll have to track down a 20 or 40 meg drive to test it. Also I don't
know which version of drive goes with the IIe 1.4 ROM I have. A 1.4/20
or a 1.4/40? Since the labels
on the ROMs indicate which drive they ship with perhaps the IIe and
IIgs (pre-GOLD 2.0 ROM) chips are locked to certain drives. The GOLD
can handle several drives
up to the 105 mb. Maybe the 1.4 ROMs can only handle their primary
drive.
What a mess of support that would be.
Here is the document I dug up somewhere on-line that lists the drives.
I'm using the Conner CP3104.
