- Yeah, the TWII got axed because Bits and Pieces licensed the Rocket
Chip caching technology to AE. Bits and Pieces lost the lawsuit to
Zip. Thus the TWII and all of Bits and Pieces went the way of the
Dodo. It was the only DMA accelerator ever made for the IIe. I wanted
one for years since I had a Ramfast Rev C. and actually could to have
used DMA in a //e.
- I'll have to dig up the Rocketchip (I still have the box) and take
some pics.
- I have the same UDC card. Laser/Vtec, same thing. I had it on my //
e for years with two 3.5's and two 5.25's.
- The Apple 3.5 controller clone was something Henry was working on,
but IMHO he's got too much on his plate right now to get anything done
other than getting orders out the door. I think he's waiting for a
shipment from Joicaim, hence you still waiting for your //e
Microdrive. Its a bummer that ///SHH Systeme didn't just include a
larger ROM with a jumper on the card to make the card compatible with
both the //e and GS.
- I'm not sure how many TWII and Rocket Chip 10's made it out the door
before things got shut down, but probably only a couple-few hundred.
I've never heard of anyone else having a Rocket Chip 10. I know of 3
people with TWII's.
- Microdrive Turbo is fast, but I'm not entirely sure if its faster
than the Ramfast Rev D. I have a SCSI to CF adapter that I've been
wanting to try out, but havn't had the chance yet, that should provide
a pretty good head-head comparison.
- I think Henry experimented with a CF adapter on one of the Vulcan
controller cards. I'm not sure if he had any success yet, I know
there were some issues, but havn't heard if they got worked out.
Fun thread!
