Re: Apple II Magazines

As evidenced by the Nibble magazine availability, at least- the
publisher has a a lot of say in how the magazine is made available.

But equally as messy is the bit with the National Geographic on CDs
back when, and the lawsuit that pulled it from the market. National
Geographic is a lot to do with pictures, and the photographers felt
that this CD distribution of the actual issues was a new work, not
simply back issues being sold- and demanded additional income from it.
Of course, 117 years of issues on 30 something CDs in a box for about
$100-$200, I can't recall what the actual MSRP was, but it was
available through the typical low ball whore out vendors in 1998 for
as low as $89. So you gotta figure with the cost of materials, over
100 years of "royalties" $89 doesn't go very far.

This clearly was published as a back issue type thing which is already
covered in the agreements that are signed by contributors.

I, myself, have so damn many of these magazines I really would like to
just see them go away sometimes, keeping a few here and there and
having a nice digital representation of them in it's place.
