You pre-empted my announcement a little bit, but here goes...

After I move (literally over this weekend), I was going to start an A+/InCider project. The outcome of which would be very similar to the Nibble digital archive. My plan was to scan every issue and put it on DVD for the community to purchase for the cost of materials. I was going to ask for donations, either cash to purchase missing issues, or of actual issues. It's very much a community project as it would take some serious $ to obtain every issue and special issue.

Would the community welcome a project such as this? This is at least a personal project for myself as I would _love, love_ a digital archive just like the Nibble one.

Thoughts, ideas?

I'll start a new thread if there's enough interest.

Woops! I'll clarify...

The cost of materials would be DVD+label (printer ink eventually as well) plus postage. I'll no doubt wear-out at least one scanner in the process too. heh :-/

FWIW, I've found that newer, lower-mass DVD drives do not handle
even trivial misalignment of stick-on labels. Many of my labelled
DVD recordings will not play past halfway through the disk because
the pickup cannot track the wobble well enough.

Worse, the labels shrink slightly over time, causing a DVD that was
readable to become sufficiently out of balance that it is no longer
readable.

Best to stick to either writing with a Sharpie or printing directly
on the (printable) DVD.

Sure, no worries. I'll get my wife to do the Sharpie'ing. She has MUCH (much!) better penmanship than me. :)
