Just something to play with. But there are proven and affordable ways to convert IIgs RGB to VGA. Those methods are *completely* compatible.Could you point me in the direction of one? I've been following this issue for some time, and all the ones I've seen on this newsgroup are either hit and miss (the Highway 100 converter) or have nasty conversion artifacts that make them unusable for a IIgs monitor replacement.
The "conversion to VGA" route I was referring to was the Highway 100 converter, so if that doesn't work for you, we're still waiting. (The other methods were Apple RGB to SCART RGB or Component video-- but at NTSC scan rates, not VGA.) The problem is that attractive conversion of IIgs RGB to VGA depends on characteristics of the converter that are not usually specified, and so are hit-or-miss unless someone actually tries one and finds that it works well. The reason for the problem is exactly the same as the one that Alex Freed addressed in his recent mod to the //e VGA adapter for Carte Blanche--the need to resample Apple video at a non-optimal rate. -michael NadaNet and AppleCrate II: parallel computing for Apple II computers!
