Note that the cable is only straight through if you use an IDC DE-9F.
The actual pin numbering would be:

IDC10F - DE-9F
1 - 1
2 - 6
3 - 2
4 - 7
5 - 3
6 - 8
7 - 4
8 - 9
9 - 5
10 - n/c
