I was actually just looking at the .v2d format last night. I couldn't
find any documentation either, but from what I can tell by looking at
a few images I made, it is pretty much like .nib with variable-length
tracks and quater-track resolution.
The file starts with an 8-byte header, which is the 4-byte image
length (i.e., the file size - 8) and ASCII "D5NI" tag.
That is followed by two bytes indicating the number of tracks in the
image, then the track data. Each track has a 4-byte header containing
the track number (in quarter-tracks) and length. Unused tracks are
omitted.
