Well holy cr*p. I tried it just now again and it worked. Which begs the 
question why it wouldn't before. Have I been clicking on the Filename column 
or doing something dumb when I come off the Edit Menu? I must have been. 
That's the most logical explanation. The other explanations are too scary 
like monkeys running around in my registry settings.
