Maybe we can talk Henry Courbis into an Applicard knockoff? They
are really dirt simple and could be duplicated today with about 1/4
the parts count by means of a few PLDs.
Looking at a picture of the Cardz180
http://www.mylinuxisp.com/~jdbaker/oldsite/images/CardZ180.jpg
it appears that it doesn't have much logic.
I suspect a knockoff can be done with one old SIMM - they are still
available. A single CPLD should take care of all the glue logic.
Many years ago I worked for Adobe Systems. We have designed an AppleTalk
co-processor board for the printers based on Z181 - a Z180 with a
built-in half-SCC (85C30). I'm almost sure I have a prototype board
somewhere in my junk.
So if there is any interest and if I can get the register level
programming model, I'll be more than happy to design a clone.
I assume you still have all the software drivers.
