What about my other question? Can a Videx be made to coexist with a
64K/80-col card by somehow disabling the 80-col feature of the IIe
card? Will this cause problems with other software?

The "80 col card" is nothing but extra memory. When the firmware detects
this memory present it maps the $C3xx range to built-in ROM. It is definitely possible to directly toggle the soft switch and map this space to the Videx ROM. You should also be able to use it in slots other than slot 3. I didn't try it but would be surprised if it didn't work.
