Re: GS RAM Ultra
Hello Oracle.
>You have mail.
Yes I do. Thank you!
It seems to allow the GS-RAM Ultra to work correctly in the ROM3 all that's
needed it to cut a Bow Tie on the back of the card. The location of the Bow
Tie isn't readily apparent and took a little while till I found it, even
with a picture.
To find the Bow Tie to cut for the ROM3 mod:
First locate the second IC in from the left on the bottom end of the card.
This is a GAL called 'GSUL1A'. This IC normally has some extra writing on
it that AE added. The actual IC name is called 'GAL20V8'. It's on the face
of the board, toward the bottom left.
Just to the left of the IC are some small Resistors and a Capacitor. Locate
the far left Resistor. Now turn the card over but keep note of the
Resistor's location. You will notice small Trace running from the Ground
Plane to the one Resistor lead. You should also notice a VERY small Bow
Tie.
Just cut the Bow Tie or Trace and your card will now work in any ROM3
system. Connect it back or jumper the Trace to allow the card to work in a
ROM1 once again.
