Appletalk actually runs in synchronous mode at a rate of 230,400 bps.
The ADT guys apparently have both the Super Serial Card and the IIgs
Serial Port running in asynchronous mode at 115,200 bps but I haven't
tried that yet.

If I were still doing a lot of null modem transfers between my IIgs and
PC, I'd look into the code to do that to make my transfers faster but I
haven't really needed to do that for some time. I generally just use
either my SCSI SyQuest EZ135 drive, a SCSI Magneto-Optical drive or a
SCSI hard drive and hook it up to the SCSI card in my IIgs or PC and do
transfers that way.

The thing that really amazes me is back in 1998 when I was beta testing
several pieces of Apple IIgs software, I was running GS/OS (System
6.0.1) with a bunch of extras, would have Spectrum v2.2 (beta) running
and connected to the internet with Marinetti v2.0 (beta) which was
connected to my modem at 57,600 bps and I would still be opening the
!Help! NDA and Hermes NDA to work on Spectrum scripts while talking in
chat on Delphi all at the stock IIgs speed of 2.8 MHz without crashing
or serious slowdowns.

I really need to get my IIgs online again as I'd love nothing more than
to do most of my internet activities using it. Need to get myself an
Uthernet card I guess. Then maybe I can finally finish the internet
applications I started back in 1998. :)
