Re: reactivemicro.com Transwarp repair?

Hello Rich.

> what did you guys pull the FPGA off for?

I see someone is checking out the Server pretty regularly. ;-)

It's part of the TWGS Upgrade Project. This particular TWGS is very
'stubborn' and wouldn't go above 12.5 MHz no matter what was done to it. My
hope was the FPGA with the Toggle Rate of 50 was the limiting factor with
the TWGS, but I was wrong. As you can see by the pic I tried an FPGA with a
Toggle Rate of 70 which didn't help at all. After replacing all of the
'slow' ICs I found the ones limiting the TWGS to 12.5 MHz. It's now up to
16 MHz stably.

Now I'd like to find which 'fast' series ICs hold it back from 18.75 MHz.
So far it's just a lot of pull and replace work, so it's slow. I'm just
glad the owner has been patience with me.

Once I find the last few ICs that need to be replaced I should be able to
offer an upgrade service for all cards to 18.75 MHz.

Wish me luck!
