A drive cleaning diskette should be used for a few
*seconds* at most, since they are somewhat abrasive.

In any case, I don't think that a dirty head is the problem
with your drive.

There may be a head (track) alignment problem, resulting
from old lubricant on the head slider guide.

It's actually hard to guess with so little data about its
speed, etc.

If it's a Superdrive, then you can simply replace the
mechanism with any "2MB" Sony mechanism from
any older Mac.
