Re: Apple II+ Clone: ROMAX 2000 DLX

Hello everybody !

I got hold of this strange Apple II plus clone made in China (or
Korea, no idea), by Royal Computers, called ROMAX 2000 DLX.

What seems to be very weird is that it is an Apple II plus, has 64K of
onboard RAM and there's no video output !

Well, actually it does--it's just wired straight from the 4-pin aux
video connector and the usual RCA connector on the main board is
optimised out.

Instead the video seems to be merged (or genlocked) into a card that,
I think, generates korean characters and then outputs the image.

This topology was pretty common for Kanji and Hangul character sets.
Usually, two consecutive characters were used as a 16-bit character
for indexing the character generator ROMs.
