- It has a unique MAC address that the driver _CAN_ read from the
hardware and use for network I/O. The Contiki driver however doesn't
do so because of the complexity of the process.

- It has an "access" LED being activated for a certain amount of time
(to make it actually visible) on every access to it's I/O ports. So
it's easy to proof if the driver actually "talks" to the card. BTW:
It's interesting to see how the cooperative multitasking Contiki
doesn't access the card while accessing the disk and then comes back
to it when done...

- The ETH64 page claims some benefits of the LAN91C96 chip (used in
LANceGS) over the CS8900A chip (used in Uther):
