It does indeed work fine, but you also need the Uthernet Link Layer,
which is available from a2.retrosystems:
http://www.a2retrosystems.com/Marinetti.htm
You can also download the Marinetti files from that site if you wish.
First of all, connect theUthernet card to your Ethernet LAN. For the
following instructions, you need to have a DHCP router on your network.
Download all three files, the two Marinetti files, and the Uthernet
file, and get them onto your IIgs drive and unpack.
There is some documentation with those files, so read that once they
have been extracted. Install Marinetti3.0b1 first, copy the
Marinetti3.0b3 Init into the System.Setup folder in the System Folder,
then put the the Uthernet LL file into the TCPIP folder in the System
Folder. There is no need to configure 3.0b1 before you install 3.0b3.
Reboot, and go to the TCPIP Control Panel. Click on Setup Connection,
and at the Setup window, do not fill any of the boxes, but check
'Connect to network when GS/OS boots'. Now select Uthernet from the Link
Layer popup, and click the 'Configure' button. At the Uthernet window,
select the Slot the Uthernet card is in, and check the DHCP box. There
is no need to change any of the other values, then click 'Save'. The
Uthernet driver will put out a DHCP call on your network, and will
configure itself from your router.
You should now be able to connect, and go online, and use all the
Marinetti aware software. An Uthernet equipped IIgs really flies on the
net, and it is a joy to have the IIgs connected 24/7 with instant
access.
Get back to us if you have any problems.
Amongst other software, you will find my freeware SAFE2 FTP program on
my web site. You will probably find that useful for getting files into
and out of your IIgs:
