Naturally, as they need a focus for the hatred or fear of
their sheep.

Interesting -- firearms (and the right to bear them) are a
prime example for stimulated fear.

IMHO it is also some sort of Catch-22:

Many people in the US have firearms (at least compared
to European standards) to protect themselves against the
people that easily came into possession of firearms -
simply because of their high availability.
Also a lot of crimes and accidents are surely based on
the existance of them being in the homes they should protect.

I think there'll be never a solution to this problem but thanks
to Michael Moore even in Germany Charlton Heston is known
as a famous member of the NRA - which at least funnily
closes the thread's circle: Everything in the US begins
with movies and ends with movies ;-)
