I don't know if AppleSoft load/save commands work, but the monitor
tape routines
should be usable from within Prodos.  I know they work for Dos3.3.
Nibble magazine
had an article on how to put dos3.3 on tape.. and reload it if you
accidently fried DOS
while programming.
