It would indeed have been "special" software.

At an average of 1500 bps (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=495&coll=ap
for more details) a C60 cassette would have been able to fit
approximately 675kBytes - a C90 could have fitted a Megabyte.

This is nowhere near 30x 143kB.
