Don't they work at all with your //e?

Of course they won't show any colors, but won't they at least show you
a black-and-white image?  In my experience, it's generally not that
hard to make a European 25 fps 625-line TV set sync to an American 30
fps 525-line video signal to get at least a black-and-white image.
