Yes, he should.  I posted updated pinouts and corrected some verbage
("modem" vs. "printer" cables, as Apple called them) specifically for
the IIgs on the ADTPro serial connection page recently:

That said, if you have older floppy drive hardware (the variable-speed
kind) it's very quick indeed to use DiskDup+ (avoid DiskCopy) to build
the floppy images of GSOS.
