So I noticed something this weekend while diagnosing RAM troubles: the
SystemSaver IIGS is very *very* effective at cooling down the machine.
I was leaving the GS to do endless RAM tests, first with the case
closed. When I'd open it up, I'd be surprised the power supply was
actually cool to the touch, as were the other cards.
As the troubleshooting continued, I'd just leave the GS opened up and
running its memory tests. Guess what? The power supply was very warm
to the touch, and there were areas that were almost hot. The cards
were all very warm too.
I know in the past there had been debates over the effectiveness of
the GS System Saver. Well there's no doubt in my mind about this any
more.
