Argh. Of course that should've been "*while* DOS will".

Well, I have to say that was a great deduction.
My Apple II has Applesoft ROMs not integer ROMS, and I have a spare
non working Apple II+ board. I swapped out the ROMs from the non
working board one by one, testing as I went. Three ROMs into the
process, the Apple II booted perfectly.

So the 0013 ROM was bad. Not sure why, or for what reason, but I guess
these things just happen.

I've fixed this machine a few times now (replacing chips each time),
and thanks to Linards, this was the easiest fix of them all. BIG
thanks.

I presume that you've tried the "old" chip back in the machine
and it still doesn't work? Otherwise, it could just be cleaning
the ROM/socket pins the hard way. ;-)
