I inadvertently included the "master" version of the STARTUP program

I have corrected the image on the web--it now contains *both* versions
of the STARTUP program: STARTUP and STARTUP.MASTER.
Sorry for the confusion.
Ok, no problem - I'll re-image the disk and try again, after wiring up
another adapter. I'm paranoid that I cooked a transistor or the
diode. I'm going to leave somewhat longer tails on the components
this time... and will install in a II+, which will have a little more
room for my fingers. :-) I sourced enough parts for five adapters, so
I have a few more spares yet.
Id does sound like you have a wiring error in at least one of your
adapters, assuming that they are making good contact with the
game port socket. (BTW, you did notice that the IIgs game port
is *backwards* from all other Apple II game ports, right? The
cable should come out on the *front* side of the IIgs, but on
the *back* side of all other Apple II's.)
Yep, I remember that from other discussions of the IIgs port. And,
you have a picture of the correct orientation in an IIgs, so I just
rotated it for the IIe.
Also--did you receive my email response sent last night?
Alas, no - which would account for my desparate plea on usenet. I
didn't even find it in gmail's spam filter, which I use to filter my
real email account. Thanks for helping!
