Sure, but the reason I want to do this is because I have more IIcs
than power bricks, and I have a _LOAD_ of 5A, 12~18VDC power supplies
(they are switchers, internally adjustable - they originally came with
LCD monitors).

I don't really want to design a replacement for the internal power
supply, but if I did, I wouldn't use a linear regulator - the IIc
seems to want about 750mA (maybe more) on 5V, and that's over 5W being
dissipated in the linear regulator right there.
I'm really just wondering if there's a published standard method of
doing this.
