The AE Vulcan utilities would be your best bet. Downloading one
of the PDFs of the vulcan manual would provide you with some
usefull information.

It can be changes

The cards are the same but they used a different EPROM with the
different Apple IIs.

It's IDE but it looks like AE tried to force you to buy their upgrade
by making the ROMs so that they wouldn't work with a larger HD
than what came with that card. Someone came across a card with
the EPROM for a 100mb drive a while back. It let you use a wider
variety of drives. All my hardware's in storage right now but
someone here  should be able to burn you a copy of it.
A search of comp.sys.apple2 will give you a list of the drives we
found that worked.
