I'll have a look a bit later at the modplayers I have. I could have sworn
one of them could do background playback somehow. Can't say I really use
them though as my only storage medium for IIgs is an 800k drive (which I
really do appreciate though).

I'm sure there was another long lost piece of software that I haven't been
able to track down. I absolutely cannot think of it though.
