Might depend on the adapter.
A UDS-10, for example, supports Hayes-type commands (when it is setup this
way).

You can ATDT 204.64.23.2/10000 for example to connect to that IP at port
10000. Hopefully I am remember the syntax correctly, it is a "/" and not a
":". It has been a while.

Basically, you access this mode from your terminal software running on your
machine. You just setup your terminal programs parameters to match those of
the adapter on that side of the interface.

I've used it to communicate at up to 38.4kpbs from a TI-99, and with the
proper cable and terminal program (both supporting hardware handshaking -
RTS/CTS) there is no data loss. Otherwise, usually 4800 is max on a TI-99.
