 I think it's a combination of that and the fact that the cards just plain 
aren't that useful. I was excited when I found a PhoneNET PC III (most 
recent revision) complete in-box at the local recycle center. The software 
that comes with it is a DOS/Win31 AppleShare client. Not too useful in the 
II world, as you'd still need a Mac as a server. Minimal Windows NT support 
(dropped after 3.51, I think, and it was for only certain cards).

There was a product called PC MacLAN from Mirimar Systems that could run an 
AppleTalk server over many of the ISA localtalk cards in Win 9x. I played 
with the demo a little, but by that time I already had better methods for 
transferring files.

What I really wanted to do was use a linux box as a MacIP gateway for 
marinetti, but no dice. The ancient drivers just kernel panic'd. Then I 
learned how to use my Shiva FastPath.
