Although this is true, the Apple IIe can be reprogrammed
to do whatever you like, within it's limits, of course.

It sure can, some years ago we used IIe's for testing and programming the GTD5 telephone switches, one of the engineers was a big Apple //e user at the time and did all the programming on it. I have one of the //e's we used, it has a couple of really strange cards that were custom made for the purpose of testing, don't remember what they do though.
