Aaahh! The iPhone, you're right! However (quote from Wikipedia):
# Apple has confirmed that an optimized version of the Mac OS X
# operating system (without unnecessary components) runs on the iPhone,
# although differences between the operating system (OS X) running on
# Macs and the iPhone have not been officially explained.
Which means that if you try to run a Mac application on the iPhone,
it's likely to fail. Doing so is similar to trying to run a regular
Windows application on a Windows-CE enabled phone: an application
failure will be the most probable result.
Anyway, I'll have to rephrase my claim to:
I don't think there's any cell phone running some _documented_
version of Mac OS though
This may of course change in the future. Or it may not - only Apple
can decide whether they'll release documentation about the iPhone OS-X
or not....
But, more importantly: I don't think there's any non-Apple cell phone
running any version of Mac OS - and I don't think there will be any
such phone within the foreseeable future. But there are several
non-Microsoft cell phones running Windows CE, and there are *many*
non-Sun cell phones running Java. And I don't like monopolies....
Btw, in my part of the world, the iPhone doesn't really exist except
as some expensive vision of the future. I can't buy any iPhone here.
And even if I flew over to "the States", bought an iPhone and then
flew back (yes, a few - very few, but still some - swedish Apple
zealots has actually done that), I wouldn't be able to pop in a SIM
card and then use the iPhone as a phone.... current iPhones can only
be used with AT&T as your phone operator, I've heard. That will of
course change too, but we're not there yet.
