Paul,

   Yea, that .pdf is the one I've been working with.  It's a lifesaver
to have but still incomplete compared to a factory manual (if there
ever was one!).

   I'll try swapping C1 and report back what happens!   This'll be a
little while as I'm done with the Mac Plus, am now finishing a Xerox
820, then will return to the Mac 512k I'm also working on.
