Things that should definitely work (from experience):

All the stuff from the DOS 3.3 (and DOS 3.2) System Master disks, except
for the Integer BASIC stuff of course.

The DOS version of ADT. This one uses almost all RAM in a 48K system, so
transferring a disk image back and forth and then comparing would most
likely show you if you have bad RAM.

Ultima I (original 1981 release), II and III

Most single-loader games. Just get a couple of the file-based games from
Asimov and test away.

If you do get a language card (or an Integer BASIC ROM set), you might
also want to try the RAM tester that exists in the "Programmer's Aid #1"
component of Integer BASIC. This one seems a bit better than APTEST at
finding bad RAM.

Hi

Here is a grab from beautiful boot.

As the colored dots fall the pattern appears, filling the screen totaly.

Any ideas?

I did try another 6502 (and a 65C02) but it made no difference.

There is no filenames displayed so it must have crashed in a way. The pattern made me think of binary counting. I first though there is a problem reading back data from the RAM displayed on the screen in HGR mode but I tested this in basic and it seems to work fine.

Grasping at straws: What if there is an adressing problem that data is overwritten because of an adress line failure. Would APTEST see that? Is there a RAM test that would test the address lines?

Mabe I'll try ADT tomorrow. I would need to let the ii+ borrow the SSC from the IIe to do that.
