Ok, the drivers and icons are now available at:
http://www.inactivex.net/apple2/files
(Web content will be appearing shortly on /apple2, but the file
archive will keep the same URL even once that happens.)
The Vulcan.GSOS.sdk file is a disk image of the GS/OS 5.0.4 diskette
that came with the Vulcan drives. It is pre loaded with the drivers
and icons of interest:
:Icons:VULCAN.ICONS
:Icons:FINDER.ICONS
:Icons:FINDER.ICONS.X
:System:Drivers:VULCAN
(I'm not in front of my GS right now, so I could be slightly off on
those file names.)
The other file, VulcanDRV.shk, contains just the "VULCAN" driver file
and "VULCAN.ICONS" file. The "VULCAN" driver in that archive has a
date stamp in 1989, and the "VULCAN" driver on the system disk image
has a date stamp in 1990, so that is the one I am using at the
moment.
Interestingly enough, even after copying all the icon files to :Icons
on my GS/OS 6.0.1 boot partition, the Vulcan partitions do not show up
using the new icon. If I boot from the GS/OS 5.0.4 disk, however, the
new icon does show up. (The icon, however, is different than the icons
I remember from my old Vulcan disk -- they must have distributed
different icons with different versions of the software.) Perhaps
there is some difference in icon files between the two system
versions. It doesn't matter a whole lot to me; I am just glad to have
the speedup from the driver.
Finally, I will be uploading the vulcan driver files to "the usual
place where these things go" momentarily.
Cheers,
Rusty
