What?  The fonts are identical, pixel for pixel, between 40 and 80
columns.  Only the dot clock frequency changes to fit more characters
on a line.



What do you mean "pixel for pixel"?   Truetype fonts don't have pixels.
The pixels aren't created until the font is displayed!  And the pixel
display is of course adjusted to the display unit used at that time.


Sorry for my imprecision.  They are only pixel for pixel identical in
the Apple world.  For the TrueType world, I should have said "glyph for
glyph".  The *only* difference between the 40- and 80-column font is
x-axis scale.
