Your conclusion is flawed.  The only way to conclude that Tool128 could be bad
 is if you were running GSBug and verifying that the returned data did not
generate the correct results.  The source and documentation for Tool128 is
publicly available (Google: hashtool iigs) so it is very easy to verify if it
is doing anything wrong.

You should be troubleshooting Marinetti to find out why CHAP ON is failing.
Again, GSBug will help with this.  The culprit may be some other system
extension or application stepping on memory it shouldn't be using.
