A.P.P.L.E. Presents the 2007 Apple II Programming Contest
About the contest
The 2007 version of the A.P.P.L.E. Apple II Programming Contest will
run from 1 April through 1 October 2007. All entries must be received
by midnight, PST, of 1 October 2007. The purpose of this contest is
to spur on new development of programs in celebration of the 30th
anniversary of the Apple II coming up next February.
The Rules
All programs must be written by a single author and may be derivative
works as long as they are adding functionality to the original
program. It must be written by one person and must be readable by the
judges. All programs must run on one of the following specified
machines
Apple II, II+,IIe or //c
Any common configuration
Can run on hard disk or CFFA Card
Apple IIgs
Any common configuration
Can Run off of CFFA or Hard Disk.
All programs must be HDV, SHK or DSK files and must be emailed to
A.P.P.L.E. within the given time frame. The email address for the
contest is contest@callapple.org. Source, binary, and if applicable,
documentation must be submitted together in order to be considered for
the contest. Also all submissions must have system requirements
clearly specified in the documentation.
The contest is not open to Call-A.P.P.L.E. staff or their relatives
The Prizes
A.P.P.L.E. will be awarding the top three finishers with prizes
specified below as well as a price for the most unique application.
Each INDIVIDUAL submitting a program will receive a $25.00 gift
certificate for the Call-A.P.P.L.E. store. Multiple submissions are
welcome but only one gift certificate per person will be allowed.
1st Place Prize -- The first place finisher will receive a $100.00
in cash as well as a two-year contract with A.P.P.L.E. for
distribution of the winning software.
2nd Place Prize – The second place finisher will receive $50 in cash
and a one year A.P.P.L.E. Membership or $25.00 gift certificate for
use in the A.P.P.L.E. store.
3rd Place Prize – the third place finisher will receive a $50 gift
certificate for use in the A.P.P.L.E. Store.
Most Unique Prize – The person submitting the most unique program
will receive the A.P.P.L.E. Complete Collection on DVD (Total Value of
more than $150).
The Judging
The judging will be done by a judging panel of A.P.P.L.E. outsiders
unrelated to day to day operations of A.P.P.L.E. All decisions of the
panel of judges will be final and prizes awarded accordingly. The
winners will be announced on 1 February 2007 on the A.P.P.L.E. Website
and in Call-A.P.P.L.E. Magazine All prizes will be sent automatically
to the winning participants at that time.

* All submissions to this contest will be published online and will
also be available to the general public on the A.P.P.L.E. Website.
All of the authors credits will remain on all programs but the rights
to publish will reside with A.P.P.L.E. with the exception of the
winning package which will be distributed via contract with A.P.P.L.E.
and the author.
** KFest 2007 related HackFest programs may be submitted as they will
be worked on during the timeframe of the contest.
