I do not believe that the Mac drives are compatible with the IIgs
smartport. They will work (apparently) with a UDC card installed in an
A2 or with a Laser A2 clone which happened to use the same interface
as Macs for 3.5" drives.

I fell into this trap some time back purchasing a Laser 3.5" drive -
which of course is Mac compatible, but not IIgs compatible.

At least this is how I understand it? Someone please correct me if I'm
wrong. BTW I've since sold my Laser drive as I could never get it to
function with my IIgs.
