Not on new pc's nowadays. But I'd advice to check. Nowadays they don't even have a floppycontroller.
To me it stops being a pc when it lacks this compatibility.In one pc I'm using at work there is the hardware for COM2 but it isn't supported in the bios so then it will get no resources and it can't be used.
