1) It is not NiCad (rechargable). It is a 3.6V Lithium type rated at
1.2AH (according to the FAQ at
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/apple2/faq/part13/ question 007).
2) I would cut the leads close to the battery and solder to the battery
leads (careful with polarity).
