I've been having trouble getting it to communicate correctly too.  I
can get directory contents - but random bytes get dropped, no matter
what the baud rate is.  No matter what kind of handshaking/flow control
I have the server use, I see this problem too.  I have the sneaking
suspicion our USB adapters don't implement hardware handshaking, or I
can't reach in and touch the driver through the rxtx library.  I can't
find anywhere on the Keyspan adapter software where you set handshaking
defaults, and it doesn't seem to respect control commands I send
through rxtx.  So, it may ultimately be a driver issue.  Other, newer
adapters have been used more successfully.
